Cardinals vs Packers

Two struggling teams in desperate need of a win meet Sunday when the Arizona Cardinals hit the road to the take on the Green Bay Packers.

Arizona has lost five of their last six games, including their last three. On Sunday, the Cardinals were routed 45–10 by the Los Angeles Chargers.

They enter the game ranked last in the NFL in total offense, and also average a league–low 14.1 points a game. Arizona is also last in rushing, passing, yards per attempt and first downs gained.

Green Bay has lost their last two games and return home where they haven’t lost this season.

Their playoff hopes took a hit after losing 24–17 to the Minnesota Vikings, continuing their road problems. The Packers have lost each of the six road games in 2018.

There’s a reason why the Cardinals are listed as 14-point underdogs. They’re bad. They’ve never won at Lambeau Field, having gone 0-6 there, and they haven’t shown any consistency on either side of the ball to make anyone think they can pull of a surprise here. The Packers are 4-0-1 at home and as up-and-down as they’ve been this season, they should win handily.

Colts vs Jaguars

The Indianapolis Colts will be looking for their sixth straight win on Sunday when the team travels to Jacksonville for an AFC South matchup against the Jaguars.

The Colts (6–5) earned their fifth consecutive win last week with a 27–24 last-second victory over the Miami Dolphins to keep them in the hunt for a playoff berth. Andrew Luck threw for 343 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, while Marlon Mack led all rushers with 85 yards on 15 carries. It was the eighth straight game in which Luck threw for at least three touchdowns.

The Jaguars, meanwhile, suffered their seventh straight loss last week after falling 24–21 to the Buffalo Bills. Jacksonville fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on Monday after the team fell to 3–8. The Jaguars also benched quarterback Blake Bortles in favor of Cody Kessler heading into Sunday’s matchup and will be without Leonard Fournette after the running back was suspended one game for fighting with the Bills last week.

Houston will square off against Cleveland at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Houston are a solid favorite in this one, with an expected 5.5-point point margin of victory.

Houston fell to Tennessee 17-20 when the two teams last met; this time around, they exacted some revenge. Houston had enough points to win and then some against Tennessee last week, taking their contest 34-17. Houston’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lamar Miller, who rushed for 162 yards and 1 touchdown on 12 carries, and Deshaun Watson, who picked up 70 yards on the ground on 9 carries and threw 2 TDs.

Their wins bumped Houston to 8-3-1 and Cleveland to 4-6-2. Cleveland’s offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Houston defensive front that amassed six sacks against Tennessee, so we’ll see if they are up to the task.

broncos vs bengals

December 02, 2018

Both the Broncos and Bengals look to keep their playoff hopes alive on Sunday when the two teams go head-to-head for a key matchup that could later end up deciding who earns the second AFC Wild Card berth.

The Broncos (5–6) are coming off of a 24–17 upset win over Pittsburgh last week. Case Keenum threw for 197 yards and two scores while running back Phillip Lindsay added 110 yards and a touchdown on the ground on 14 carries. The win was Denver’s second straight after the team similarly escaped with a 23–22 upset victory over Los Angeles in Week 11.

The Bengals, meanwhile, have dropped three-straight games to 5–6 and are without starting quarterback Andy Dalton for a remainder of the season. Cincinnati’s last outing was a 35–20 lopsided division loss to Cleveland in which the defense allowed Baker Mayfield to throw for 258 yards and four touchdowns.

In the two team’s last meeting, the Bengals outlasted the Broncos 20–17 on Nov. 19, 2017.

The Detroit Lions are trying to recapture some lost momentum after a tough Thanksgiving loss to the Chicago Bears. Lucky for Detroit they’ve had time to re-assess, considering their next opponent is one of the NFL’s best. The Los Angeles Rams come in one of the NFC’s hottest teams . Obviously, it doesn’t seem like this game has much on the line for Detroit, but they want to try and finish the season strong even amid falling out of the playoff chase. The Rams, meanwhile, don’t want to slip up with NFC playoff positioning on the line for their side.

This offseason, there have been plenty of notable moves for the Lions, who signed linebacker Devon Kennard and running back LeGarrette Blount as some of their bigger moves early on during the period. In the draft, they snagged Frank Ragnow to anchor their offensive front and Kerryon Johnson to be their runner of the future. Perhaps the biggest move the team has made on the whole, though, was getting Matt Patricia to sign on as head coach. That’s been something which has brought new excitement and a breath of fresh air to the organization after a tough finish to 2017.

Arguably, there’s been no more exciting time to be a Lions fan than right now, as the team tries to transition itself into a contender with new leadership that has a clear championship pedigree. And that’s true even in spite of some adversity and up and down performances thus far in 2018. There is plenty of hope for the future still even in spite of this going on.

The Rams, meanwhile, have been arguably the NFL’s best and most exciting team much of this season. With the excitable Sean McVay and Jared Goff, they put up tons of points offensively while still maintaining a solid defensive grit and identity with names like Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald holding it down up front. The Rams are big favorites even on th road, and it’s easy to see why given these variables.

The Lions are coming off a tough loss, while the Rams want to keep momentum going on their season and continue to push for NFC glory. The last time the teams met in 2016, the Lions edged out a win against a very different Rams team by a final of 31-28.

Kansas City (9-2) comes into Oakland on the heels of a scandalous episode that resulted in the Chiefs releasing their star running back Kareem Hunt Friday. Hunt was let go hours after a video surfaced of him physically assaulting a woman last February. Hunt, who was fifth in the NFL with 824 rushing yards, will be replaced by veteran backup Spencer Ware.

The Chiefs have been installed as a whopping 14-point favorite over the Raiders (2-9), who are coming off a 34-17 throttling by the Ravens in Baltimore last Sunday. Further depressing news for Raiders fans: Kansas City has won 19 of its last 20 games against AFC West opponents.

To have any chance of an upset, Derek Carr and the Raiders offense need to be much better than they’ve been all season. Oakland has only scored 23 or more points three times in 11 games. Kansas City, on the other hand, is the NFL’s second-leading scoring team at 37.6 points per game.

The Chiefs will be playing for the first time since losing the most entertaining regular season game in years when they lost 54-51 to the Rams on Monday night.

The Raiders (2-9) will attempt to get their first divisional win of the season when they host the Kansas City Chiefs (9-2) Sunday at Oakland Coliseum.

Kansas City has dominated the national headlines as of late. They released star running back Kareem Hunt on Friday after a hotel security video posted by TMZ went viral earlier in the day that showed Hunt shoving and kicking a woman.

Even without Hunt, the Chiefs still possess plenty of weapons to push the Raiders’ defense to the limit. Can the Raiders capitalize on Kansas City’s distraction? Can Derek Carr keep pace with Patrick Mahomes? We’re about to find out.

An intriguing inter-conference matchup goes down Sunday in Foxborough, Mass., when the New England Patriots host the Minnesota Vikings. It’s a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff from Gillette Stadium. New England (8-3) is closing in on its 10th straight AFC East title following a 27-13 rout of the Jets last week, while Minnesota (6-4-1) is currently the NFC’s first wild-card team after handling Green Bay behind Kirk Cousins’ 359 yards and three touchdowns. Sportsbooks list New England as a five-point favorite. The Over-Under, or total points Vegas thinks will be scored, is 49.5 in the latest Vikings vs. Patriots odds. Before you make any Patriots vs. Vikings picks, see what Vikings expert Larry Hartstein has to say.

Hartstein is 6-0 in his last six spread picks for or against the Vikings, part of a stunning 14-2 Minnesota run. Last Sunday, Hartstein was all over Minnesota (-3) when the Vikes dispatched Green Bay, 24-17, in a game that wasn’t that close. Minnesota out-gained Green Bay, 416-254. “This line is saying the teams are even and I don’t believe that’s the case,” Hartstein told SportsLine members. “The Vikings have a massive homefield advantage — they’re 36-16-2 against the spread in their last 54 home games — and Green Bay’s defensive injuries give them a chance to break out offensively.”

Moreover, Hartstein is a mind-blowing 44-19 on all his NFL picks this season, making him SportsLine’s No. 1 expert. Anyone who has followed him is up big.

Now, Hartstein has pounced on what he calls a mistake in the Patriots vs. Vikings spread. He has locked in a strong pick over at SportsLine.

Hartstein knows Patriots quarterback Tom Brady remains in complete command even at age 41. He has gone four straight games without an interception and was buoyed by Rob Gronkowski’s return in last week’s 27-13 win over the Jets. Brady targeted Gronk a team-high seven times and posted his highest passer rating (115.4) in more than a calendar year.

Minnesota has won five of seven and ranks third in total defense at 314.7 yards per game. Cousins has settled in with his new team, enabling Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Kyle Rudolph to put up big numbers. Running back Dalvin Cook has recovered fully from his hamstring injury and scored his first touchdown last week on a screen pass.

We can tell you Hartstein is leaning Over, but his much stronger play is on the spread. He’s unearthed an eye-popping stat that has him going big on one side. He’s only sharing what it is, and who to back, at SportsLine.

Who wins Vikings vs. Patriots? And what eye-popping stat makes one side of the spread a must-back? Visit SportsLine now to get Larry Hartstein’s strong against-the-spread pick, all from the No. 1 NFL expert who’s 14-2 on Vikings picks.

Seahawks vs 49ers: Full San Francisco Game Preview

A year or two ago, games between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks might have been viewed with a little more attention and interest given the two franchises were atop the NFL’s best in recent seasons.

The Seahawks, stumbling after their 27-23 loss to the Carolina Pantherslast week, having blown the lead during the fourth quarter in all four of them, will face a 49ers team gaining offensive momentum and coming off a 25-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Free SIng UP TO Watch LiveStream

The prime-time Thursday Night Football matchup doesn’t bode well for Seattle as is so typical for traveling teams on a short week. Still, the 49ers haven’t been able to match up favorably against their NFC West rivals in recent seasons, so this contest is about as intriguing as it gets despite the sub-.500 records.

What is clear is whichever team comes away with the victory in this contest likely retains the slim hope of making the playoffs. And the loser, as Grant Napear of Sacramento’s KHTK 1140 stated Tuesday, is “done” for the season.

San Francisco’s Week 6 victory over the Ravens was a continuation of the 49ers’ strong offensive efforts stemming from their Week 5 loss against the New York Giants.

One of Kaepernick’s touchdown passes came on a 76-yard hookup with wide receiver Torrey Smith. Baltimore’s secondary, especially former 49ers cornerback Shareece Wright, was continuously exposed by the 49ers aerial attack.

Smith and fellow wide receiver Anquan Boldin haunted their former Ravens team with a combined 198 yards and eight receptions. And fellow wideout Quinton Patton got in the mix with his first NFL touchdown, which proved to be the game-winner.

Seahawks vs 49ers NFL Football Free Signup Game Tv

On the flip side, San Francisco’s defense was good enough not to lose nor give up a last-second touchdown as had been the case against the Giants. But the 49ers continue to struggle with their pass rush. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco wasn’t sacked, and San Francisco recorded just one quarterback hit.

As a result, the 49ers gave up a total of 343 yards—137 of these to veteran wideout Steve Smith—and two touchdowns. Although the defense recorded two interceptions off Flacco, San Francisco will need to find a way to clamp down on opponents’ offensive efforts.

The conclusion of Week 6 marks the time in which San Francisco could add an additional three players to its 53-man roster.

Center Daniel Kilgore (ankle) and wide receivers Jerome Simpson (suspension) and DeAndre Smelter (knee) are all eligible to return to practice after not being listed on the roster for the first six weeks, per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

Out of the three, Simpson seems the likeliest to return. Per Maiocco, the 49ers coaching staff is pleased with Simpson’s efforts during his six-game suspension.

The 49ers may elect to take a more cautious approach with Kilgore as he continues to recover from his ankle injury suffered last season. And Smelter, feasibly, may not return at all in 2015 unless San Francisco feels rushed to add him to the roster.

Last week versus Baltimore, the 49ers received a minus-4.6 pass-rushing grade from Pro Football Focus, which is a continued example of just how much this aspect is struggling.

If there is a good sign, the Seahawks have allowed a whopping 26 sacks already on the season—highest in the NFL. And, as a unit, Seattle’s pass-protection efforts can boast of a minus-34.9 PFF grade, which is also the worst in this category.

Seattle versus San Francisco may not have the same lore compared to seasons prior, and the fact both teams are struggling in 2015 means the context of this matchup will be a little different compared to what was seen in 2013 or 2014.

Some, like Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, downplayed the rivalry. Yet offensive guard Alex Boone feels differently as seen in this video courtesy of CSN Bay Area.

Additionally, Sports USA will broadcast the game to a national radio audience. Play-by-play announcer Josh Appel and analyst Hank Bauer will have the call.

The Titans were on the road last week for a Monday night divisional battle with the Houston Texans. They jumped out to an early 10-0 lead but were ultimately defeated 34-17, spoiling a record-setting performance by quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Mariota completed 22 of 23 passes for 303 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. His completion rate of 95.7 percent set a franchise record and was the second-highest completion percentage in NFL history for a single game (minimum 20 attempts), trailing only Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers’ 96.6 completion percentage the previous day against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mariota completed his first 19 passing attempts of the game. It was the highest number of consecutive completions in a game for the Titans/Oilers since at least the beginning of the 1997 campaign.

Mariota and the Titans are looking to keep pace in the AFC and get back to their winning ways at Nissan Stadium, where they have won 13 times in their last 16 appearances. In the AFC race, there are 11 teams, including the Titans, at 5-6 or better, and six teams are positioned at 5-6 or 6-5.

The Titans finish the season with a Thursday night home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (Dec. 6), a road trip to face the New York Giants (Dec. 16), and consecutive home games against the Washington Redskins (Saturday, Dec. 22) and Indianapolis Colts (Dec. 30). It marks the first time in the “Titans era” (since 1999), the team will play four December home games and also the first time the Titans will play four of their final five games at home.

The Jets were at home last week to host the New England Patriots. They took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and tied the score at 10-10 before halftime. However, Tom Brady’s two touchdown passes and Sony Michel’s 133 rushing yards and one touchdown helped the Patriots to a 27-13 victory.

The Jets drafted quarterback Sam Darnold with the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The rookie from Southern California started the first nine games of the season before missing the last two contests due to an injury. He threw for 1,934 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on the season prior to the injury. With Darnold out, veteran Josh McCown has started the last two contests.

The Jets are in their fourth season under head coach Todd Bowles. His defensive unit is ranked second on third down in 2018, allowing opponents a 34.0 percent conversion rate. Bowles, who was named head coach in 2015, led the team to a 10-6 record in his first year and to 5-11 marks in 2016 and 2017.
